Mop Cotton is a heavy, firm cotton that we carry for use as a thick cotton weft for weaving.
Mop Cotton has such features:
100% unmercerized cotton
cones vary in weight, approximately 16 lbs
100/4 has 210 yards per pound
75/6 has 102 yards per pound
The heavier weight (75/6) is most often used for rugs, while the lighter weight (100/4) makes excellent placemats. While the yarn is 100% cotton, you might find it challenging to dye, as some of the cottonseed oil survives the yarn manufacturing process and may inhibit dye penetration.The cones of this yarn vary in weight. The 75/6 mop cones are typically 16-17 pounds and the 100/4 cones 14-16 pounds.
